Safety tips
Most people on Ekarom are here to meet someone genuine. These habits help you stay safe while you do.
Look for verified profiles
Verified members confirmed their identity with an ID and selfie. You can verify yourself from your profile too.
Keep chats in Ekarom at first
Get to know someone in the app before sharing your phone number, social media, workplace or address.
Never send money
Never send money, gift cards or crypto to someone you met online — whatever the story. Report anyone who asks.
Video call first
A free video call in the app is a quick way to confirm someone is who they say they are.
Meet in public
For a first meeting choose a busy public place — Ekarom Events are a great option — and arrange your own transport.
Tell a friend
Let a friend or family member know who you're meeting, where and when, and check in afterwards.
Block and report
If someone makes you uncomfortable, block or report them from the chat menu. Blocking is silent — they aren't told.
If you are in danger
Contact local emergency services first (Ethiopian Federal Police: 991). Then tell us at info@ekarom.com so we can act on the account.
